MAGNETA LANE JOINS LEGENDARY ROCK ICON SAMMY HAGAR AS PRESENTERS FOR THIS YEAR'S 2011 INDIE AWARDS  SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 2011

 

 

Toronto, Canada....March 6, 2011...Magneta Lane, the critically acclaimed indie rock all female band from Toronto has joined legendary rock icon Sammy Hagar in being named presenters for the 2011 Indie Awards as part of Canadian Music Week.  The 11th annual celebration of the Indies will take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on Saturday, March 21, 2011 and will feature performances by Janelle Monae, Shas, Hollerado, Bombay Bicycle Club, Hannah Georgas and Desperate Union.  The concert will be broadcast live on XM Satellite Radio's "The Verge."

 

"We are so excited to be part of this year's Indie Awards. Not only have many of the performers been our personal favorites, we are honored to be given the chance to celebrate these great artists during Canadian Music Week," said Lexi Valentine, lead guitarist and vocals for indie rock band, Magneta Lane.

 

The band recently premiered their latest single, "Shatter" at a standing-room only premiere party on Tuesday, February 22, 2011. The all female band is made up of members Lexi Valentine (vocals & guitar), Nadia King (drums) and French (bass). The band has received critical acclaim for their debut album The Constant Lover. Their first single also titled The Constant Lover and their second single Ugly Socialite continues with successful rotation on MTV, VH-1 and MuchMusic. The trio formed in the fall of 2003 and has spent their time performing throughout Canada. Their sound has been compared to The Strokes, The Runaways and The Pretenders while honoring such influences as Nancy Sinatra, Sonic Youth, The Kinks, Hole and The Cardigans. They have also toured the U.S., Japan and parts of Europe.  Gambling with God was released in September 2009 to rave reviews.
