The extraordinary opportunity celebrates the greatest race car driver of his era, Sir Stirling Moss. On November 25th and 26th, the remarkable Sir Stirling Moss 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang that Moss drove in vintage competitions from 1993 to 1999 will hit the auction block at the Dan Kruse Classic “Houston Classic Car Auction” to be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center November 24th and 25th, 2016.  One must remember, however, this rare automobile not only boasts the association with Sir Stirling Moss but also that of another legendary racer, Carroll Shelby himself.  To offer a car associated with two of the most iconic racers of all time is unprecedented. The historical significance of this vehicle is unrivaled by any other.  In an era when generalist drivers prevailed, it was Stirling Moss who proved his versatility driving 84 different makes of cars throughout his career.   Moss won 212 of the 529 races he entered including 16 Formula One Grand Prix races and the legendary Mille Miglia.  This 1966 Shelby GT350 could not offer more of an endorsement of any kind for any competition car than that of being chosen by Stirling. Moss purchased the vehicle from then Aston Martin owner Peter Livanos of Greenwich. He first raced the car in the Targa Tasmania, after which he used it in many races and tours in both North America and Europe. Stirling Moss was once quoted as saying “Motion is tranquility, movement is tranquility.” Cobra Automotive, Shelby’s race shop, converted the car and then sent it directly to Tasmania for Moss to drive. It was a high performance car against all serious vintage competitors and Moss was quoted as saying it was his “favorite car of all time” for historic racing. The Stirling Moss 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang is in excellent race-ready condition, is blindingly fast and dependable and is extremely rare. It is listed in the Shelby Registry, as one would expect for a car driven by such a legendary racer.  The car also comes with historic documentation, interviews and video. Highlights of the Sir Stirling Moss 1966 Shelby GT350 Mustang include: • Full R specifications • Number 89 of 252 carry over cars from the 1965 original build • Raced in 2012 Rolex Monterey Historics, in FIA spec, finished in top ten • Extensive documentation history that includes racing photos from European FIA events and Australia • Numerous communications between Carroll Shelby and Stirling Moss • Currently has both Colorado title and bill of sale from Stirling Moss   “I can’t think of words adequate enough to describe the rarity of this extraordinary 1966 Sir Stirling Moss GT350 Shelby being offered at our next auction in Houston,” said Dan Kruse, President of Dan Kruse Classics. “You can almost hear the engine revving up and the cheers of the crowds, it’s that special.”   For a complete list of all vehicles to be sold click www.dankruseclassics.com The auction is in conjunction with the Autorama’s 57th Anniversary show.   REGISTERING TO BID Live - http://dankruseclassics.com/index.cfm?id=216&auc_code=ATX16 Online - https://www.proxibid.com/aspr/Dan-Kruse-Classics/10403/AuctionsByCompany.asp?ahid=10403     ABOUT DAN KRUSE CLASSICS Dan Kruse Classics has a combined over 200 years of experience in the auction event business.
