The legendary front man of Public Enemy and Prophets of Rage is now poised to revolutionize the art game, too. Chuck D’s internationally celebrated career as a performer sidelined his visual art endeavors for the most part until recently. His unique access to the worlds of Rock and Roll and Hip Hop brings a courtroom sketch aesthetic to his undocumented aspect of pop culture history.  His point of view is one he has lived.   His illustrations are figurative adaptations assembled into his work with a distinctive, compositional sensibility and worldly feel.  Many don’t know that he graduated with a Graphics Design degree. Much of the work he will exhibit was completed while on tour, giving each piece an incomparable vitality and unparalleled provenance.       “Behind the Seen” will feature original art works and prints for purchase. Entry into the exhibit is limited and all details are here:  http://gallery30south.com/chuckd/        Some of the highlights of the exhibit a watercolor, ink on Strathmore paper titled “Blas Teacha;” which is a portrait of KRS1 and an incredible example of Chuck’s ability to capture the essence and individual style of a massive crowd.  Also included is “Nations of Millions;” a watercolor/ink, “Prophets of Rage: France July 2017;” is another watercolor/ink that depicts a woman being hoisted in her wheelchair in the mosh pit in France for his band Prophets of Rage’s tour there  and Whodini - Funky Fresh”  Also highlighted is “Run MC, Kings of Rap;” a watercolor/ink on strathmore paper which is one of four pieces from a show that are also going to appear in print form at the Oakland Museum of California’s RESPECT: Hip Hop Wisdom & Style exhibition.
